------------------------

And I know a father
Who had a son
He longed to tell him all the reasons
For the things he'd done
He came a long way
Just to explain
He kissed his boy as he lay sleeping
Then he turned around and headed home again

  1. i am overwhelmed with the sense that it is the one mouth rising from the ocean and swallowing in urgent deep and unfathomable longing, over and over again...james owens, jack owens, james owens, benjamin owens...

(despite the truth of what you heard, this is actually what i was humming as i swept the floors, love, i know a father who had a son....)

i am stilled by this photograph. i am obliterated by the truth of the wave.

  2. Haven't seen my father for over 30 years. He once, twice wrote a letter, slipped in and out of my life, again. An entry, that certainly is much felt.
