the photograph is stunning, the birds in the foreground definite in form, their legs out behind them, the separation of the feathers apparent, and then the birds a whoosh of motion in the background seeming more spirit. and yet they are the same type of birds! but in different states of birddom:) and the rugged muted tones speak to me of the real tones of nature before the verdant spring leaps into existence obscuring the effort that must take place before the plenty, something honest and cleansing to me.
i was thinking upon seeing your photograph (and standing in such places with you) how in such a presence it seems impossible to err. and then i came upon this today at The Writer's Almanac which says it better than i ever could in word and context,
"As long as this exists," I thought, "and I may live to see it, this sunshine, the cloudless skies, while this lasts, I cannot be unhappy." The best remedy for those who are afraid, lonely or unhappy is to go outside, somewhere where they can be quite alone with the heavens, nature, and God. Because only then does one feel that all is as it should be and that God wishes to see people happy, amidst the simple beauty of nature. As long as this exists, and it certainly always will, I know that then there will always be comfort for every sorrow, whatever the circumstances may be. And I firmly believe that nature brings solace in all troubles.
