  3. Ah, the shielded portrait (your commenter, musicwithinyou, has one too!). The half-obscured portrait....I always love these.

    1. Hannah: how much do we reveal about ourselves in how and when we hide?

  4. i like that shyness, that idea of hiding, in the first one, opposed to the total openness, embracing the light, of the second one :-)

    1. Roxana: she is both, often at the same time ... sixteen years of watching her moods and growth, i should know her, but now what shadows and depths that i could have never dreamed!!

  5. she herself is a force i can not begin to imagine and so i look at the photographs only. the second photograph manages my breath away like a wind, the white space balanced against the form, or - which is white space and which is form? one begins to question existence spending time with this shot which seems a distillation of essence.

  6. erin: i am silenced, thinking that you know her, that over the years you will know her better, perhaps even in ways that i will not ... what circumstance this is, how could we ever guess?

there are lucky moments when essence and existence seem the same. i think she has such moments more often than most of us :-)
